Overview
Though there are dozens of castles throughout Scotland, Stirling’s dramatic hilltop location and stunning architecture make it commanding and out-of-the-ordinary. A strategic battleground for Scottish soldiers since prehistoric times, the Stirling Castle came into its modern form in the 14th century. Once you make it past the formidable walls and gates, the interior is home to stunning and meticulously well-kept treasures that offer a taste of life as a Scottish King or Queen. Below the castle, Stirling’s Old Town has cobblestone streets and one of the best surviving town walls in Scotland.
