St. John has a tropical savanna climate. Summer temperatures (June to September) average around 88 degrees F, while winter temperature (December to April) dip to 73 degrees F as a low.

Beaches

St. John is known for its beautiful and private beaches, so the options are plentiful. Trunk Bay is quite literally picture-perfect as St. John’s most-photographed beach. If you’re looking for water sports, Cinnamon Bay has plenty of excursions, including windsurfing, kayaking, and snorkeling. Honeymoon beach is (of course) romantic and has great access to local hiking trails.

There’s no shortage of pretty Caribbean beaches in St. John, so carve out time for snorkeling, sailing, or lounging on beaches like Maho Beach and Trunk Bay. If you want to browse local art and folklore, try visiting the Elaine Ione Sprauve Museum. Hiking is a great way to explore, so try the Francis Bay or Reef Bay trails, which are unspoiled island refuges. In town, there are great shops to peruse, ranging from specialty spice shops to pretty bamboo crafting studios. Island-hopping is also a popular activity, particularly with LGBT-friendly St. Croix and St. Thomas nearby.
